Orthopantomography or OPG is a dental x-ray that captures images of the teeth and the jaws to detect abnormalities, diseases or other conditions. It is like an x-ray and is performed by a qualified radiologist. Like an x-ray, you do not need any specific preparation for an OPG. However, any jewelry or metallic items can be avoided, especially if it is in the head or neck region.
A plastic disposable mouthpiece is inserted into the mouth and the patient must bite the same while facing the OPG machine. Stay as still as possible while the images are being captured, which will take a few minutes.
